Building Authority: Taking Bold Steps Toward Your Freedom
Hello Freedom Creator,
I hope you’re starting to feel a little more unstoppable.
I know I am.
As each day, week, and month goes by momentum is picking up.
Last time we talked about the importance of taking action despite fear.
Today, I want to dive into something every ambitious entrepreneur, creator, and professional needs to hear:
You need to build your authority and take bold steps to bring your vision to life.
If you’re serious about creating an online business that aligns with your strength, skill, knowledge, and passions, you need to position yourself as an expert.
We’re all experts in something whether you believe it or not.
Authority isn’t just about knowledge…
It’s about sharing that knowledge in a way that resonates with others.
And the best part is you don’t need a PhD or 20 years of experience to start building authority.
Although…humble brag…I do carry 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship and business. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping others build their own path.
But the point is all that you need is a genuine desire to help others, a commitment to continuous learning, and the courage to share your story and journey along the way.
This week’s letter will also include action steps for each pillar.
Because what good is a newsletter if you don’t get something to take away?
1. Start by Sharing What You Know
People don’t just buy products or services.
They buy confidence in your ability to help them get away from pain or toward a desire.
One of the easiest ways to build this trust is by consistently showing up with value.
What is value?
Whether you’re sharing insights on social media, creating blog posts, filming a YouTube tutorial, or offering guidance and knowledge through a newsletter, like this one, you build authority every time you show up and help someone solve a problem, share an insight, or give a piece of wisdom.
Action Step: Choose your favorite platforms to focus on and start sharing valuable content at least once a day. For most of you reading this, that’s Instagram and Threads.
This week, share a personal story, a lesson learned, or a practical tip to help others move forward in your domain.
Keep it consistent.
Remember, authority is built over time. Not overnight.
2. Embrace Your Unique Voice and Perspective
You don’t need to sound like everyone else.
In fact, trying to fit the mold of someone else often backfires.
Your community is drawn to you because of your unique voice, experience, and approach. When you embrace what makes you different, you stand out naturally and effortlessly.
Action Step: Take five minutes to write down three to five things that make you and your approach unique. It might be your directness, your sense of humor, or your focus on practical steps over fluff.
You could call this your UCP—Unique Creator Proposition.
I just came up with the term as I was writing this thinking about a USP, or Unique Selling Proposition, which is a common term in marketing. But UCP feels more aligned with what we’re trying to achieve here.
(Remember where you heard it first.)
Keep these points in mind every time you share content.
3. Lead with a Signature Framework
Creating your own framework or philosophy around what you do is what will set you apart.
In the so-called “sea of sameness,” you want to differentiate yourself from others in your field.
A signature framework serves as a roadmap for your audience showing your community the exact steps they need to take to get results.
Not only does it simplify your process for others but it also helps you clarify how you’ll help them achieve their goals.
That’s why I’m thrilled to share something I’m working on right now…
My own low-ticket digital product called Freedom by Design: The 7 Pillars to Building Your Online Freedom Business. (It’s a working title, so bear with me.)
This blueprint will outline the seven key pillars—or foundations—that every ambitious entrepreneur, creator, and professional needs in order to build a profitable, freedom-based and purpose-driven online business.
It’s the same seven pillars I’m currently using to build my own online business.
Hint: The pillars are a blend of professional and personal frameworks.
I’m designing it in a way that breaks down each pillar so that anyone can start implementing it right away even if they’re just starting in online business.
This won’t be just another PDF guide.
It will be THE BLUEPRINT to help people build an online business that aligns with their strengths, skills, knowledge, and personal lifestyle goals.
Action Step: Think about the core pillars or steps that define your approach to your work or expertise. Write down the key steps or phases and give each one a name.
Pro Tip: Use ChatGPT to help brainstorm ideas.
Your unique framework will help others see the value you bring and help you stay focused as you build your online business.
4. Engage with Your Audience
Authority is a two-way street.
At the end of the day it’s not just about putting content out there. It’s about building a relationship with the people you want to serve.
Engage with your community, ask questions, and encourage feedback. These interactions build trust and loyalty which naturally lead to authority.
Action Step: This week, ask your audience a question that invites them to share their thoughts or experiences. You’ll gain valuable insight into their needs and start to forge stronger connections.
Whether it’s in your email replies, social media comments, or a poll, listen to what they’re saying and use it to shape future content.
5. Take Bold Steps & Believe in Your Value
Creating a product, sharing content, or putting yourself out there for the first time isn’t easy. But remember, confidence comes from action not from waiting for everything to be perfect.
It’s about showing up even if it feels uncomfortable at first.
As I’m working on my digital product, I’m pushing myself to create something that will make a real difference in people’s lives.
But it’s also something I have never done before.
And one thing I do know it’s something I wish I had when I first set out to build an online business that allowed me to live life on my own terms.
This product is more than just helping you build your online business…
It’s about creating your path to personal and financial freedom.
So, if you’ve been considering to create something of your own, remember: the most powerful step you can take is simply to begin.
Don’t wait for the “perfect” idea or moment.
Start with what you know and trust that you’ll learn, implement, and grow as you go.
Here’s your challenge for this week:
Take one step—big or small—toward building your authority.
Whether it’s sharing a post, outlining your framework, or simply engaging more with your audience, start today.
Every action, no matter how small, will get you closer to the business and life of freedom you’re working toward.
Because your freedom journey is in your hands.
Keep moving forward, and remember: Progress over perfection.
Thanks for reading.
See you on the next one.
To Your Success and Freedom,
Daniel Purgal
